St. Louis & Chicago Wedding String Quartet

The Midwest’s most sought-after string ensemble.

Project String Quartet features musicians from The Juilliard School, Yale School of Music, and Curtis Institute, with recording & performance credits alongside Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, and Andrea Bocelli. Our conservatory-trained musicians specialize in cinematic Bridgerton-style arrangements, transforming beloved modern songs into elegant string quartet performances.

We had Project String Quartet play for our daughter’s wedding and cocktail hour at St Louis Union Station Hotel. They are wonderful - top notch musicians with an extensive catalog of songs to choose among. They even arranged a new song that the bride and groom wanted. Our ceremony was truly made special by these musicians. If you can book them, book them!!

What People are Saying…

Where do I begin?! I cannot say enough good things about PSQ. One of the things that was so important to me was having a pop quartet at our reception. When we decided on having our wedding reception in St. Louis, I was so surprised to find that there was one based there. Their vast song selection and their ability to learn new songs that we requested was a huge bonus for us. So many of our guests commented on how fun the vibe was with them playing. People also loved trying to guess the songs. I wish I had more events to be able to hire them for. If you are looking for a quartet, do not look any further than PSQ!

Project String Quartet did a wonderful job playing for my daughters wedding. I highly recommend them!!! Very friendly, professional and quick to be helpful and respond to questions.

The String Quartet That Turns Weddings Into Unforgettable Experiences

Last weekend, I got a text from a bride three months after her wedding: "Just heard 'Perfect' on the radio and immediately thought of you guys. Still gives me chills."

It's messages like that which remind me why we do this work. We're not just providing background music - we're creating the soundtrack to people's most important moments.

From Chicago Suburbs to Concert Halls to Wedding Celebrations

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, where the Chicago Symphony Orchestra wasn't just something you heard about - it was part of the cultural fabric of the city.

After studying violin performance at Northwestern University, I went on to The Juilliard School in New York, where I learned what it really means to pursue musical excellence. Those years of intensive training taught me technical precision, but more importantly, they taught me how music can move people in profound ways.

When I eventually settled in St. Louis and started Project String Quartet, I brought all of that experience with me. The musical sophistication from my conservatory training, the understanding of performance pressure from concert halls, and the appreciation for how music connects communities that I learned growing up in Chicago.

But I also discovered something beautiful about St. Louis's approach to celebration. There's a warmth here, a genuine appreciation for music that brings people together rather than just impressing them. The combination has been perfect - bringing conservatory-level musicianship to moments that matter most in people's lives.

When we play "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran at a ceremony in Forest Park, it should sound like Ed Sheeran meets the St. Louis Symphony. When we perform "Canon in D" at the Missouri Botanical Garden, it should feel both timeless and alive.

What Makes Wedding Music Actually Work

Here's what I've learned after performing hundreds of weddings across the Midwest: people remember how music made them feel, not how technically perfect it was.

We've been fortunate to perform everywhere from intimate backyard ceremonies in Kirkwood to grand celebrations at the Chase Park Plaza. We've also traveled back to Chicago for couples who fell in love with our sound and wanted something special for their celebration. But whether it's 50 people in someone's garden or 300 guests at a downtown ballroom, the goal is always the same: create moments that move people.

The Songs That Create Magic

After years of weddings, certain songs consistently create those unforgettable moments.

"At Last" by Etta James makes every couple in the room remember their own love story. When we play it during cocktail hour, you can watch guests unconsciously move closer to their partners.

"Here Comes the Sun" has this way of making even nervous brides relax. There's something about that melody that just says "everything's going to be beautiful." We've used it for processionals at outdoor venues throughout the area, and it never fails to create that perfect moment of anticipation.

What We've Learned About Wedding Music

Couples here value authenticity over flash, substance over style. They want their weddings to feel genuine, not like something from a magazine.

This influences how we approach every performance. Instead of trying to impress people with complicated arrangements, we focus on bringing out the emotional core of each song. Instead of overwhelming the moment, we support it.

We've also learned that families often span multiple generations and musical tastes. Grandparents who love big band music, parents who grew up on classic rock, and couples who met to indie folk. Our job is finding music that honors all of those influences while creating something cohesive.

Making It Personal

The best weddings happen when couples trust us to tell their story through music.

Sometimes that means creating a custom arrangement of the song that was playing when they met. Sometimes it's weaving family traditions into the ceremony music. Sometimes it's surprising guests with an unexpected song choice that perfectly captures the couple's personality.

Why Choose Project String Quartet

Because you want music that creates moments, not just fills time.

Because you want musicians who understand that your wedding isn't just another gig - it's the soundtrack to the most important day of your life.

Because you want the confidence that comes from working with professionals who've performed everywhere from neighborhood ceremonies to destination weddings, who know how to handle any situation with grace and skill.

And because you want music that your guests will still be talking about years later.

Book the Right String Quartet for Your Wedding

You have a vision for your wedding or event, a vision that does not involve lifeless performances, awkward transitions, or bored guests!

If you’re searching for the best group to provide wedding ceremony music or special event entertainment, here are a few things to consider for before hiring your string quartet.

Hire a String Quartet with the Right Sound

Is the string quartet you’re considering capable of performances that consistently captivate your attention? What music does the string quartet specialize in, and does it match your taste?

Does their site have extensive videos and audio recordings that reflect a passion for vibrant and precise performances?

The music should sound like a polished, professional recording, and the string ensemble should play as one - in time, in tune, with dynamic musicality.

Has the string quartet put thought into the way they present themselves and their talents? Are they well dressed and well groomed, ready to enhance the ambiance and look of your wedding or event’s décor and styling?

Are the musicians highly trained?

Hiring a string quartet for your wedding adds an air of beauty and sophistication to your special day, but the players need to be well trained and experienced.

Learn a little about the training and background of the individual musicians in the group.

A quality string quartet will be composed of classically trained musicians who have dedicated their lives to the study and practice of their instruments.

Communication

Before booking your wedding or event music, have a conversation with the group’s coordinator about your vision.

If you have special requests for songs outside the string quartet’s repertoire, ask them if they’d be willing to learn them for you.

Here are several additional questions you may want to address before hiring your string quartet:

  1. Does the group provide a lead musician who is responsible for coordinating with your event planner on the day-of for cues and timing?

  2. Does the lead musician have the experience to tailor the musical transitions of the quartet’s performances so there is a seamless flow of events?

  3. Do they offer the ability to customize playlists and are they able to guide your through making your music selections?

Check their Reviews

Reviews are critical for many people when hiring a string quartet for their wedding music or event music.

How was communication prior to the event date, how did the musicians conduct themselves during the event, and what did the guests think of the musical entertainment?

The Asking Price

A professional string quartet will charge a fee commensurate with their expertise, experience and quality. Does their asking price reflect the value their entertainment will provide to you and your guests?

Does the group stand behind their promises and offer a money-back guarantee so you have the peace of mind you need on your big day?

How Far in Advance Should I Book?

Booking a string quartet for your wedding is an important decision that should be made well in advance. We recommend booking a string quartet as early as possible, ideally around a year in advance. This timeframe allows you to secure the services of popular string quartets who tend to get booked quickly, especially during peak wedding season. By booking early, you have a better chance of finding the perfect string quartet that fits your musical preferences and budget.

Wedding Date: If you have a specific wedding date in mind, it's important to book early to ensure that your chosen string quartet is available on that day.

If you're looking for St. Louis & Chicago wedding and event musicians who not only care about exceptional musical performances, but also care about bringing your vision to life and making the whole planning process easy and fun, then you’ve found the right group for the job!
